Portillo expanded their fleet acquiring their second PistenBully 400 Winch

Portillo Ski Area bought their second PistenBully 400W unit model 2011 which will be delivered by Telemet Sudamerica during this coming fall.

This acquisition demonstrates how effective and productive has been for Portillo, their first PB400W which during the past two seasons has allowed them to open more terrain, gaining a more detailed maintenance and giving a superior finishing to their slopes. This ski area receives not only regular skiers but also professional ski teams from different countries that keep on returning year after year thanks to Portillo’s dedication to them.

Historically, after its introduction into the market, the PB400 model and its variations has been one of the most successful models in the industry. Technically the PB400 is the best in its class; being extremely easy to use and comfortable to operate, with an absolute precision.

The PB400 has all the essential characteristics needed to work in the mountains. From its comfortable cockpit to its powerful and economic motor and its chassis structure, this equipment shows that it has been designed to satisfy in the most efficient way, all of the operator’ demands in all severe mountain conditions.

The purchase of this PB400 Winch means to Portillo the offering of a greater safety level to their operators as these snow-grooming models present a new windshield production technology that grants the best protection available in the market. Besides that, Portillo’s PB400W has:

  • Cummins 370hp 6 inline cylinders diesel engine
  • AlpineFlex Tiller with foldable side flaps hydraulically operated
  • Hydraulic track tensioner
  • Maximum winch cable traction power of up to 4 tonnes
  • New 3-way working speeds system

  • New state-of-the-art gear system
  • New and unique 360° turnable from within the cockpit
  • Lower fuel consumption
  • Joystick controls all blade and winch functions
  • Roll Over Protection System

With over 60 years of history, Portillo Ski Area located 2 hours away from Santiago’s downtown in Chile, has become one of most important and traditional ski areas of the country. It is known worldwide for its beautiful landscape, hotels and high quality snow.

We want to thank and congratulate Portillo for their excellent choice and purchase.
