Codelco La Andina and Anglo Disputada Purchase The First 4-PB600 Polar For Chile

Two of the biggest mining operations in Chile have placed an order for four (4) PB600 Polar snowgroomers, “Mining Edition”, for their high mountain operations. It is estimated these units will arrive to Chilean territory by April/May 2009.

The PB600 Polar is the most powerful snowgroomer with a performance enhanced by the new technology of its 6 cylinders Mercedes Benz OM460 LA and a 12.8-litre displacement produces 360 kW (490 hp) – serious power on the slopes. It is environmentally friendly in accordance with Euromot 3A and yet still has sufficient power reserves. Last but not least, it has a massive 2,200-Nm torque.

TIt has excellent climbing ability due to its superb weight distribution. The new chassis was designed to be torsionably rigid for intense work operation and a long life. The hydraulic system is proportionally controlled to allow complete precise operation, even at the most adverse conditions.

The PistenBully 600 Polar is also a genuine innovation in terms of safety. The new puncture-proof windscreen and driver’s cab – whichwithstood impact forces of over 15 tonnes on its roof in the ROPS test – speak for themselves. Another bonus: the sound optimizedsandwich construction keeps the driver’s exposure to noise at a minimum. Also, all functions can be selected directly from the control panel– at the touch of a button and with no risk of error.
